About the Author

Clara Elena García (aka C.E. Wallace) is a Paraguayan-born poet and author based in New York. By day, she runs a school for migrant children awaiting reunification with their families in the U.S. By night, she writes, creates, and makes music with her husband and very spoiled cat.

Her first book, "Juego de Palabras," is now available in Spain, Mexico, and Colombia from Valparaíso Ediciones. Her second book, "Seven Legendary Monsters" will be published in Spring 2025 by Revolutionaries Press

Clara's work has been published in the Acentos Review, Alebrijes ReviewAxon Journal, Cuéntame Literary Magazine, and Sonic Boom Journal. She also has work in five anthologies- You're Never Too Much- Poems for Every Emotion from Macmillan, Boundless 2025 from The Rio Grande Valley International Poetry Festival, The Multilingual Anthology of the America's Poetry Festival of New York from Artepoética Press, The Hyperion from End of the World Productions and The Dark Side of Purity from Band of Bards Comics

Clara began writing poetry as a teenager, attending the New England Young Writers Conference at Bread Loaf in 2002. Her poetry spans years and experiences and covers topics such as mental health, belonging, romance, and the metaphysical. 

She was selected to represent Paraguay in The Americas Poetry Festival of New York, which was held on October 11th - 13th, 2023 at the Cervantes Institute of New York and the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association. More recently, she appeared on a panel with the renowned author Rigoberto Gonzalez and award-winning translator Alexis Romay on the importance of Spanish-language poetry and has been a guest on several radio shows in the NYC and NJ area. 

She is currently on submission for her very first children's book, as well as a YA indigenous fantasy novel, both based on Paraguayan folklore.
